Reminder to all. Some of my students have told me that they did not know where to send work.

dean.goldrup@nbed.nb.ca

The attached document will direct you to a number of learning resources for at home learning.  I would like you to access 2 of these links per week and write a one page personal response telling me what you learned, and what you did with these links.  You can send these responses to my email: dean.goldrup@nbed.nb.ca

During this unique time students are being asked to do something they have never really been asked to do before.  They are being asked to do work to develop skills without the reward of grades or the hovering corrective presence of teachers.  YOu are being asked to take ownership pf your own learning.  As a result, this next assignment will give you a very important peek behind the curtain to see what our standards to determine whether you advance from 11 to 12 are.

I will be attaching both the Grade 11 Reading and Viewing Standards and the Grade 11 Writing and Representing Standards.  Your assignment is to read them both and write a 1 page personal reflection.  Yor reflection needs:

Proper Grammar, your understanding of what you read, and where you think you fit in these standards.

This is important.  We are here for support but you need to decide how serious you will take this home learning.  Reflect on these standards and think about where you are and where you need to improve.  Will you be ready for Grade 12?

When you complete your research essay it will be time to begin a reading and viewing comprehension assessment at the Grade 12 level.

The attached file is an assignment in which you have to prove you know how to connect something you have watched to something you have listened to through your understanding of their themes.

I will be sharing a couple of essential documents that you will need to monitor and understand your progress as you practice English as an additional language from home. I suggest you look through the series of 'I can' statements for Speaking, Listening and Reading to get a sense of what you can do and what you need to work on.  This should also be shared with your host family so they can tell you what they have witnessed in your language development and help you practice some of the ways you need to improve.  More specific exercises to develop these skills will follow as the weeks progress.
