the atmosphere at Sugarloaf would have made anyone feel as if they were truly
at the Olympics while over 300 students and staff celebrated the Canadian Women’s
gold medal victory as a school. The Student Council organized an afternoon
event for the entire school body to watch Canada take on our southern neighbors
in our national sport, while also getting the chance to munch on some light
refreshments provided by the Student Council at the same time. Congratulations Canada, and a pat on the back to
the students here at Sugarloaf for making the event a success!
Just a reminder to students and parents/guardians that there is NO school for students on Monday, February 17th, because it is a Professional Learning Day for staff. Classes resume on Tuesday, February 18th.
Akarsh Pai, a Grade 12 student and the vice-president of the Student Council here at Sugarloaf Senior High, has been chosen by the Canadian Gene Cure Foundation (CGCF) to participate in their “Gene Researcher for a Week” program. This national program runs annually during or near the March Break. Forty to fifty students from across Canada, interested in the genetics field, are selected from a pool of hundreds of applicants recommended by their school to spend a week in a genetics laboratory paired with a senior researcher.
Just a reminder to parents/guardians and students that there is no school for students on Monday, January 27th and Tuesday, January 28th. Students return to classes for the beginning of Semester 2 on Wednesday, January 29th.
